some more photos from the series I did with Darryl Richardson at Pont Alexandre III. It's crazy to think that was only a few short weeks ago that I was running around in a dress, and now I'm huddling under fur coats in the snow...(tonight it's snowing for the first time this winter!)

Can't wait for next week, I'll be assisting with Zana Bayne's presentation at Paris Men's Fashion Week. Plus I've got the perrrrfect vintage dress to wear for the occasion...

p∆ris ñights Ω

Living in Paris makes dressing up 1000x harder than the US. Either it's the fact that taxis are a million euros or that the métro has a million steps to climb or that I have a bizarre obsession with needing to be wearing shoes that I can run away from muggers in... whatever. These court shoes are a happy medium.
vintage coat, Cheap Monday skinnies, Aldo heels

JETT∆TUR∆ VOL III

Moi + Darrell, ph by Nolan Gray Wiley

Long live disco! Here's the third installation of JETTATURA, a way to share the love of new disco and to make you shake your ass. This edition is made up of super danceable track. In particular this song by Moullinex. His music is energetic yet beautiful at the same time. I think he's coming to Paris at the end of November :]

Røuge

Coucou !

MINIMALE ANIMALE ∆

GO BUY NOW @__@___@ www.minimale-animale.com

" MINIMALE ANIMALE is the debut swimwear collection from designer/stylist CASSANDRA KELLOGG, whose bare-much creations have been featured twice in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, as well as in magazines like Exit, Foam, Esquire (UK) and Self Service.
With head-turning details like mesh tops, high-cut legs, low slung bottoms and plunging necklines, ANIMALES’ collection is – in Kellogg’s words – “not for the timid.”  Says the designer: “The collection is for confident, young-at-heart women who aren’t afraid of wearing something striking, and also for those who embrace their natural beauty and are comfortable in their own skin.”
During design school, Kellogg taught herself how to make swimwear and started wearing her own spandex creations to music festivals, surf spots and just generally out and about – and immediately swim for Ashley Paige and Roxy, Kellogg decided to launch her own line.
Kellogg says that as a child she was “obsessed with all things associated with the ocean” and “never wanted to leave the beach.”  Now, she’s translated her obsession into MINIMALE ANIMALE – a line dedicated to mainstream by way of edgy, sexy, fashion-forward cuts – and one that’s definitely poised to turn up the heat."

how amazing is this woman?? her collection is perfectly executed with a refined eye for style. Her aesthetic is perfectly cultivated; these are the swimsuits for trendsetters and it-girls, to be carelessly worn on spontaneous roadtrips and at summer festivals. I'm feeling a total 70s vibe too, like that montage scene in Blow where everyone is doing coke and jumping in pools in Mexico.

je me noie dans la beauté

whenever you feel a stress-induced panic attack coming on, it's nice to surround yourself with beautiful calming things. For normal people this might be children or Enya. For vapid materialists such as myself, looking at apartment photos is akin to a mental bubblebath. And that's even better considering the fact that I share a closet-sized shower with a hoard of french strangers.

Vermont Marant

vintage purse/sweater, slip dress from Old Navy about 5 years ago

Found this perfect sweatershirt today while thrifting in the Marais... It is already perfectly worn and faded. Perfectly epitomizes that Isabel Marant vibe that is very "of the minute." I'm excited to wear it with jeans and heeled boots, but for tonight I decided on suede pointy heels and a fur purse to dress it up.

paint by numbers

FALL/WINTER
My lazy guide for this fall:
1. DAY DATE: Acne jeans and jacket, Sam Edelman heels, Michael Kors watch, Zara bag, RayBan aviators. Black suede heels go with everything, and are super comfortable to commute in. I've been eyeing this Acne Rita shearling jacket forever and I loveeee it in pastel yellow. Throw it over a threadbare white tee and you're good to go. Also, all the purses in this set are from Zara because they killed it this season with minimal purses, total Cèline vibe.
2. DRINKS/DRANKZ: Acne jeans, Zara clutch and boots, La Garconne sweater, Mac lipstick, Armani beanie (but whatever get one at H&M). Dress up your fave jeans with a studded box clutch and killer baroque heeled boots. A smudge of coral-red lipstick and a grungy beanie and you're set for a night out with the girlssssss.
3. SCHOOL/ERRANDS: Acne jeans, Isabel Marant Dicker booties, Beats by Dre headphones, Zara purse, Maison Kitsuné sweater, Vera Moda scarf. Just 'cause you feel like shit from waking up at 6am and trudging through the snow to ride the Metro for an hour does mean you gotta look like shit too. Ubiquitous Dicker booties for mobility, Beat by Dr Dre for drowing out humanity, and the Kitsune Parle Francais sweater for some scene points.

What I Wore: Paris Fashion Week

wearing// vintage jacket, Thierry Mugler skirt, h&m tights, Raybans

Spent the bulk of my weekend people watching and lurking around the shows; I've yet to see winter here but I'm betting Fashion Week takes the cake for most magical time of year in Paris. In other news: guess who needs a proper photographer?

Dressing for something like Fashion Week can be daunting, and I saw a couple unfortunate fashionistas hobbling vertiginously down the cobble Parisian streets in ridiculous heels. The French girl's best friend is her high heeled boots. They look stylish while allowing you to brave the metro or trek from show to show. A statement jacket or blazer is an easy way to make a simple look (i.e. black skirt and white button down) appear luxe and expensive, rather than lazy. A color or pattern matching purse finalizes the look, making it polished and coordinated. Extra points if you can shoot unimpressed glares like a real Parisian!

this feels like religion

wearing a denim shirt from Target state-side and MAC Russian red.

Rearranging my studio to feign some semblance of progress. I miss the safe feeling of having friends I can call to join me for a drink and chain smoking. I need a pick me up; it's hard to fathom, but it's difficult to meet stylish and fun people in Paris. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough or some shit. I feel like a phantom and it's a big fat fucking fear that I will spend the next year or two alone in this tiny box of a flat just watching American sitcom re-runs and obsessively cutting my split ends, only venturing out to buy baguette and nouilles asiatiques at monoprix.

shut up

//vintage 60s wool crepe dress, Paris, Theyskens Theory wedges

guess what? vintage shopping in Paris rules. Too bad it's going to be too cold to wear anything like this in approximately 1.5 seconds.

more pressure than a new bag of doritos
