What I Wore: Paris Fashion Week

wearing// vintage jacket, Thierry Mugler skirt, h&m tights, Raybans

Spent the bulk of my weekend people watching and lurking around the shows; I've yet to see winter here but I'm betting Fashion Week takes the cake for most magical time of year in Paris. In other news: guess who needs a proper photographer?

Dressing for something like Fashion Week can be daunting, and I saw a couple unfortunate fashionistas hobbling vertiginously down the cobble Parisian streets in ridiculous heels. The French girl's best friend is her high heeled boots. They look stylish while allowing you to brave the metro or trek from show to show. A statement jacket or blazer is an easy way to make a simple look (i.e. black skirt and white button down) appear luxe and expensive, rather than lazy. A color or pattern matching purse finalizes the look, making it polished and coordinated. Extra points if you can shoot unimpressed glares like a real Parisian!

This blog would really be more aptly titled "in which I experiment with auto timer, and flagrantly produce terrible quality photos; with notes of blatant narcissism."

Moving on, this destroyed knit beanie finally came in the mail today from Forever 21! I was dying to buy it for the longest time but couldn't justify paying five dollars in shipping for a stupid hat. Free shipping last week = the realization of a dream. Er, hat.

Speaking of Forever 21, how cool is their new French Chic inspired lookbook? I was assuming everything would revolve around sequin berets and pleather jeggings, but all the looks are surprisingly tasteful. I am in dire need of the plum jacket in the last photo. And the oxfords.

Viktor Vautier is awesome. His concept of a photographic diary is something that I've been taken with for quite some time. A picture is worth a thousand words and all that jazz.

P.S.

Thierry Mugler's Alien is my new perfume obsession. It's the most amazing thing I've ever smelled. Too bad I'm broke, and thus forced to ration the tiny sample bottle for special occasions.
