Pont Alexandre III

wearing a vintage Continental Airlines stewardess dress, London Fog trench, vintage belt, and Theyskens' Theory wedges

Strolling along the Seine with a talented photographer is a wonderful way to spend a free afternoon in Paris. You can see more of Darryl Richardson's work at:

paint by numbers

FALL/WINTER
My lazy guide for this fall:
1. DAY DATE: Acne jeans and jacket, Sam Edelman heels, Michael Kors watch, Zara bag, RayBan aviators. Black suede heels go with everything, and are super comfortable to commute in. I've been eyeing this Acne Rita shearling jacket forever and I loveeee it in pastel yellow. Throw it over a threadbare white tee and you're good to go. Also, all the purses in this set are from Zara because they killed it this season with minimal purses, total Cèline vibe.
2. DRINKS/DRANKZ: Acne jeans, Zara clutch and boots, La Garconne sweater, Mac lipstick, Armani beanie (but whatever get one at H&M). Dress up your fave jeans with a studded box clutch and killer baroque heeled boots. A smudge of coral-red lipstick and a grungy beanie and you're set for a night out with the girlssssss.
3. SCHOOL/ERRANDS: Acne jeans, Isabel Marant Dicker booties, Beats by Dre headphones, Zara purse, Maison Kitsuné sweater, Vera Moda scarf. Just 'cause you feel like shit from waking up at 6am and trudging through the snow to ride the Metro for an hour does mean you gotta look like shit too. Ubiquitous Dicker booties for mobility, Beat by Dr Dre for drowing out humanity, and the Kitsune Parle Francais sweater for some scene points.

dreaming in the daytime

[vintage shorts, raybans, Merona cropped trench, Lux tee, Tahari heels]

I've been wearing these Tahari heels pretty much every day, they are so quintessentially summer. The tasteful buckles and geometric curved, laquered heel makes them refreshingly understated. I love crazy Kirkwood for Rodarte heels as much as the next girl, but sometimes it's nice to be able to just appreciate the simplicity of design and materials.

Also: red lipstick for life.

unbearable lightness of being

[vintage quilted purse, trousers, and pearls/ Armani Exchange "Impress Me" tank/XXI vest/ RayBans/ Nine West heels]

I've been so reluctant to make the switch to spring appropriate clothes; I'm perfectly happy with my layers and leather jacket. Unfortunately, the weather's already getting into the high eighties so that's not an option. I was able to salvage this biker vest from my winter wardrobe, though. It'll be perfect with flowery dresses in the next few months.
These pants are by far one of my best vintage finds. I love the fact that they have pockets (prime way to occupy your hands in socially awkward situations) and when cuffed they give off a total Hepburn vibe.

As much as I complain about the scalding temperatures, I love summer. Just walking along the sidewalk and feeling the sun on the back of my arms is enough to completely turn my mood around (and I need it, thanks to my impending exams).

dip me in diamonds, dip me in pearls

[Lushae necklace, XXI ring, Cosabella bustier top, vintage slip, Rodarte belt, Zara heels, Merona jacket]

The wonderful people over at the Australian jewelry company Lushae generously sent me this necklace, I love it! Their entire line is comprised of classic pieces, and it's all very affordable. I was torn between this ruby cluster necklace and these:
but I'm glad I went with this one. All my necklaces are on the trendy side, and this one goes just as perfectly with a casual jeans and tee outfit as it does with a little black dress and heels.

Things I'm loving right now:
>Sky Ferreira's new song "17"
>Fashion Stake (new website allowing people to make small donations to finance fledgling designers in exchange for access to special sales and fashion shows)
>nude/taupe heels
>lemon poppy seed scones
>Kirlian photography

Now off to do homework, ugh.

Coup De Foudre

[vintage vest, XXI skirt and top, BCBG heels, vintage necklace]
Wore this for a late night study session/general debauchery at 24 hour Starbucks. These are probably the least comfortable heels I own, and thus I am wearing them constantly in hopes of them magically becoming more comfortable. Wearing socks with them helps, but I can only pull off that trend in small doses.

On to the topic of denim vests. I adore them! You can throw one on with nearly any outfit to make it more spring or summer appropriate, and it's the easiest way to dress an outfit down. I was planning to go diy crazy and stud this vest (such was the fate of all my other denim) but I'm glad I didn't.
(falling over in slow motion)

keep pace with the sun

While I tend to favor black clothing normally, this coral raincoat is a welcome distraction on gray and rainy days. It even has ruffled shoulders! The raincoat and girly accessories nicely balanced the menswear inspired tweed trouser and a light linen button down.

[XXI pants and accessories, Tahari heels, Target raincoat, vintage Dooney & Bourke purse, Ray Bans, Gap shirt]

In other news, the domain change was a success! It was actually far simpler than I thought it would be (with a little help from tech support, that is). Unfortunately, I still have a million things to do this weekend! I'll leave you with some of my recent bedroom-redecoration-inspiration:

There's something so serene about all white bedrooms.

Light Trails

[dress: Calvin Klein/ locket: vintage, heels: Aldo, clutch: vintage]

I feel like Calvin Klein and I are old friends. I always fall back on his clothes for their simplicity and elegance. I bought this taupe linen dress a few days ago; I'm in love with the cinched waist and high neckline. It totally satisfies my Mad Men 60s secretarial obsession. I was so excited to wear this dress that I jumped at the first opportunity to do so. Oddly enough, this was an excursion to a dive bar (beer cozies, giant fish on the wall, a jukebox playing Bob Dylan, etc). Whatever. I rocked it anyways.

I still have no idea what to be for Halloween. I was going to do the whole Lady Gaga shtick but I'm wondering if it's a bit played out. I despise running into someone wearing the same clothing as me, imagine what it would be like at a costume party? Lady Gaga smackdown, that's what.

Style Icon: Coco Sumner

I adore her. The effortless grunge translates to chic in my book.
